Botox is considered a minimally invasive treatment to better help relax muscles and therefore decrease pain and excess muscle activity.
The treatment begins with a consultation to assess your objective, and assess the wrinkles that are bothering you – it is important that an expert injector with intimate knowledge of facial anatomy do this, as some wrinkles are best treated with Botox, while others are best treated with dermal fillers. The injections are not painful and the treatment is over quickly – your injector will administer several tiny injections of BOTOX® directly in the muscles that cause those moderate to severe expression lines. No anesthesia is required and discomfort is short and brief – the sensation feels similar to a pin prick.
You can resume normal activities right away – you can even apply makeup within minutes of the treatment to cover any redness – small red areas will be visible immediately after the treatment and usually subside within 15 minutes. The medication takes 5 – 7 days to start working at which time you will notice that wrinkles start to become less noticeable – this occurs because the muscles that was injected slowly become less active. To maintain results; repeat the treatments every 3 – 6 months.
